Creative Circles [September] – Finding Your (Freelance) Feet

Creative Circles – a morning of creative conversations, speed networking and community updates!

Hosted by Creative Edinburgh, Creative Circles runs on the first Tuesday of every month.

Creative Circles is a casual monthly meetup for creatives, techies, makers and freelance folk interested in finding out more about what’s happening in Edinburgh. Join us with your morning brew, share ideas and advice, make new connections and find your next collaborator.

Our digital edition invites inspiring creatives to join us, followed by speed networking and community shout outs!

September’s theme: Finding Your (Freelance) Feet

This September, we’re exploring the first steps into freelance life. Whether recently graduated, pivoting sectors or following a lifelong passion, setting up as a freelancer can be as invigorating and rewarding as it can be challenging.

In conversation with two recent ECA graduates, join us as we delve into the expectations versus the reality of a career in the creative industries, from securing clients and building portfolios to managing finances and protecting mental wellbeing.

Hosted by Creative Director of Whitespace Charlie Bell, we’ll be chatting to Graphic Designer Ot Pascoe and Fashion Designer and freelance Digital Artist Nikita Vora as they share their experiences, considering whether they’ve found their feet on solid ground… or are finding balance on more shaky terrain!
Nikita Vora – Fashion Designer & freelance Digital Artist

About Nikita: “Growing up, I rarely saw anyone who looked like me within the fashion industry. As a woman of colour, I aim to create an environment that continues the conversation of diversity. I use fashion as a device to fuse my South-Asian heritage and Western identity.”

Ot Pascoe – Graphic Designer at Beer52

About Ot: “I’m a graphic designer, illustrator and screenprinter. I recently took on a new role as a designer at Beer52 after a period of freelancing, and now focus on web design. I’ve also previously worked as a technician at art college level where I started working on ways to improve accessibility and inclusivity in design learning and digital spaces.”
