The Easy SEO Guide for Bloggers and Developers

Have you heard that SEO is dead and that the blogging industry is succumbing to alternative mediums?

Then there’s all the blather about how difficult it is even to establish a blog. The competition is fierce. The number of years it can take for your material to get on Google’s first page. The arduous task of establishing backlinks. And the monotony of blogging only once a day, week, or month.

And all of this to discover that SEO is losing its steam, vigor, and power?

This type of SEO jargon is as entertaining as a Tupperware party and as practical as decaffeinated coffee. This may be true in other businesses, but we are software developers. And where do most developers go when they need assistance?

Sure, some developers will go to other sites, such as YouTube. However, many of us would instead read than watch. We’re used to reading code, so why not read blog posts about tackling coding problems? That is why we rush to Google.

We’ll leave it to others to discuss adjusting their seats on the “sinking Titanic of SEO.” They can moan about their problems as you and I construct our blogs and watch our ranks skyrocket.

Register Your Website with Google Search Console

This is the most crucial SEO tip available. And, best of all, it’s not difficult to do.

If your website is not registered with Google Search Console, you won’t know if your developer blog is ranking and, more crucially, how well it is ranking. Furthermore, Google cannot begin rating a website that it is unaware of; thus, if there are no backlinks to your material, Google will not find your website.

Furthermore, you have no excuse when it only takes 15 minutes to complete this task.

People utilize Google to find answers to their questions. They never search for nine ways to do something. They simply want to know, “How do I…”, “How to do…”, or “What is…”

Make sure the title of your article indicates that it will answer a specific query.

Distribute Your Content to Other Platforms

The more people who see your material, the more powerful your brand becomes. Furthermore, by posting your material on various platforms, you reach a larger audience.

LinkedIn, Medium, and Dev Community are a few places to look.

Is this some type of covert link-building tactic? No, sadly not, because these substantial publication websites add an attribute to the links you post that instructs Google web crawlers not to follow such connections.

The benefit is that your material reaches a broader audience, and your business receives more exposure. I strongly advise you to provide a link to your blog at the bottom of every article you publish so that viewers may see where it was first published.

Another fascinating element of Medium is that huge publications will approach you and beg you to publish your work if you advance as a writer. This brings it to the attention of more people and increases your exposure.

Furthermore, one perk of Medium is that you can make money for your work.

If you elect to put your content behind a “paid wall,” only subscribers will be able to read it, and whenever they clap for your article, your bank account will hear a “Ching! Ching!” as the coins roll in.

The benefit of writing on LinkedIn is that it demonstrates your abilities to your professional network. If you write an article about Python, you must be an expert in the language, right? LinkedIn allows you to connect to an existing post or create a new one. Their advice on accomplishing this is debatable; however, I prefer that you only link back to your blog rather than pasting the text from your site into a new piece within LinkedIn.

They are continually discussing on their blogs what works and what doesn’t work—all for free! So why not delegate all of the trial-and-error to them?
