Have you heard that SEO is dead and that the blogging industry is succumbing to alternative mediums?
Then there’s all the blather about how difficult it is even to establish a blog. The competition is fierce. The number of years it can take for your material to get on Google’s first page. The arduous task of establishing backlinks. And the monotony of blogging only once a day, week, or month.
And all of this to discover that SEO is losing its steam, vigor, and power?
This type of SEO jargon is as entertaining as a Tupperware party and as practical as decaffeinated coffee. This may be true in other businesses, but we are software developers. And where do most developers go when they need assistance?
Sure, some developers will go to other sites, such as YouTube. However, many of us would instead read than watch. We’re used to reading code, so why not read blog posts about tackling coding problems? That is why we rush to Google.
We’ll leave it to others to discuss adjusting their seats on the “sinking Titanic of SEO.” They can moan about their problems as you and I construct our blogs and watch our ranks skyrocket.
Register Your Website with Google Search Console
This is the most crucial SEO tip available. And, best of all, it’s not difficult to do.
If your website is not registered with Google Search Console, you won’t know if your developer blog is ranking and, more crucially, how well it is ranking. Furthermore, Google cannot begin rating a website that it is unaware of; thus, if there are no backlinks to your material, Google will not find your website.
Furthermore, you have no excuse when it only takes 15 minutes to complete this task.
To begin, navigate to the Search Console and sign in using your Google account. After logging in, the opportunity to add a domain property will appear in the upper-left corner.
You’ll be able to watch how many clicks your website receives once you’ve verified ownership of your domain (blog). Don’t be discouraged if you observe no activity for the first few months. That was the case for me, but after a few months, I began ranking, and within six months of publishing my first blog post, I had received 1,700 organic hits.
You’ll also be able to monitor the keywords for which you’re ranking. This information is gold, and we’ll use it in a few months to propel your posts to the top of search results once they start ranking.
Create articles that answer questions about your niche.
First, if your site does not already have a strong niche, you must choose one and focus your blog solely on that issue. My niche is Angular, and the reason I decide it is because it is my love.
According to recent SEO research, the most prevalent phrases in a Google search are “how” and “what.”
It’s not uncommon to come across information titled “9 techniques to boost the speed of your React app.” And, while it may be chock-full of solid ideas, it will not garner the same attention as a similar piece of content with a title like “How can I enhance the performance of my React app?” or “Here’s how to improve the speed of your React app.”
People utilize Google to find answers to their questions. They never search for nine ways to do something. They simply want to know, “How do I…”, “How to do…”, or “What is…”
Make sure the title of your article indicates that it will answer a specific query.
Distribute Your Content to Other Platforms
The more people who see your material, the more powerful your brand becomes. Furthermore, by posting your material on various platforms, you reach a larger audience.
LinkedIn, Medium, and Dev Community are a few places to look.
Is this some type of covert link-building tactic? No, sadly not, because these substantial publication websites add an attribute to the links you post that instructs Google web crawlers not to follow such connections.
The benefit is that your material reaches a broader audience, and your business receives more exposure. I strongly advise you to provide a link to your blog at the bottom of every article you publish so that viewers may see where it was first published.
Another fascinating element of Medium is that huge publications will approach you and beg you to publish your work if you advance as a writer. This brings it to the attention of more people and increases your exposure.
Furthermore, one perk of Medium is that you can make money for your work.
If you elect to put your content behind a “paid wall,” only subscribers will be able to read it, and whenever they clap for your article, your bank account will hear a “Ching! Ching!” as the coins roll in.
The benefit of writing on LinkedIn is that it demonstrates your abilities to your professional network. If you write an article about Python, you must be an expert in the language, right? LinkedIn allows you to connect to an existing post or create a new one. Their advice on accomplishing this is debatable; however, I prefer that you only link back to your blog rather than pasting the text from your site into a new piece within LinkedIn.
Investigate the SEO Kings
Many SEO specialists are constantly testing the SEO market to determine which SEO strategies work best and use them. They are continually discussing on their blogs what works and what doesn’t work—all for free! So why not delegate all of the trial-and-error to them? And why not get the most excellent SEO tactics right from the source?
Neil Patel is one specialist from whom I’ve learned a lot. Here’s a collection of blog pieces worth reading, as well as a free SEO course.
Brian Dean also has an email newsletter to which you should subscribe. Every email he sends is brimming with SEO gold.
You’ll be screwed if you break this SEO rule.
What is the one thing you must concentrate on while generating content to rank on Google’s first page?
Concentrate on producing high-quality, problem-solving, engaging material that benefits others. Seriously, this is the 20% of your efforts that will have 80% of your results.
Your content must be beneficial. It must address a problem and provide a solution, as well as tactics, procedures, and anything else that will be useful to your reader. Even better, add a dash of fun. Perhaps a few amusing GIFs? Or how about a comic image? And make sure it’s good, honest humor—no gimmicks, minorities, or dirty jokes.
Use descriptive words sparingly in your post—use a thesaurus if necessary—but don’t overuse it because you want it to seem like you. Please tell me a story. Share your personal experience with the difficulty you’re attempting to assist your reader in resolving. And add your spin to it.
As one entrepreneur put it, “Don’t know what to blog about?” Write the article or blog post that you couldn’t find when you Googled it.”
So, what is the significance of this advice?
Google’s ranking algorithm is regularly modified. They modified its ranking algorithm 3,200 times in a single year.
Because Google wants to provide the best material to its customers, they want high-quality information to appear in search results. They are continually tweaking their algorithms to eliminate bad results and replace them with better ones.
So, think about how you can use your blog to provide a plethora of high-quality, problem-solving, amusing content.
